Fit to Drive (RMS)
Transport for NSW may require you to arrange a medical assessment in order to obtain, keep and renew a driver’s license. This is because certain medical conditions can affect your ability to drive safely. In terms of eye conditions, this includes cataracts, macular degeneration and diabetes.
Once you are 75 years of age, a medical review will be required annually to keep your license. Transport for NSW will send a letter around 8 weeks before the assessment is due. Generally, this will be on or close to your birthday.
A vision assessment for your driver’s license can also be arranged without a letter from Transport for NSW. We are able to complete and submit results electronically online through HealthLink Portal.
